The Girl and I were in the East Bay today and a stop at the new Blue Bottle Coffee in the old WC Morse building in Oakland was on the agenda.
Blue Bottle has since become my favorite coffee in the Bay Area (followed by Verve and Sightglass) and the new space pays tribute to the slow enjoyment of coffee and the new and old culture that surrounds coffee shops. My vices are little to none but coffee is one of them.
Airy, bright and mellow, despite the pouring rain we’ve had lately, it’s a perfect extension of what the Blue Bottle cafés have been about. There’s even an entire wall that’s just for coffee machine repairs. Impressive.
The coffee and food has upped their game - the menu posted above has more options than I’ve seen before and the Flight of Iced is something I’m going to have to have in the future. There’s an extended food menu - not much bigger than the culmination of the other cafés but the space has lent itself to being able to enlarge those options.
Much respect, and man, are they killing it.
